The providers of Mecklenburg Heart Specialists are dedicated to providing the highest quality cardiovascular care in the region. Our physicians are highly trained, board certified Cardiovascular specialists offering expertise in all aspects of cardiovascular diseases. Our physicians have years of experience in diagnosing and treating heart and vascular disorders including coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, peripheral arterial disease, varicose veins, hypertension, heart rhythm disorders, heart failure, and much more.

Heart disease is the number one cause of death in the United States, and affects men and women of all ages and walks of life. The physicians and nurses at Mecklenburg Heart Specialists strive to provide compassionate, personalized care in an atmosphere that treats you like family. Maintaining your cardiovascular health in the most comfortable setting possible is our primary goal!

Aamer Qureshi

MD, FACC, FSCAI

Dr. Qureshi attended Dow Medical school at the University of Karachi, graduating in 1989. From there he came to the United States and completed a combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics internship and residency at St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical center in New York City, followed by an adult Cardiovascular fellowship at St. Vincent's Hospital, finishing in 1998. He then entered the private practice of Cardiology, initially in Columbia and Orangeburg, SC. He moved to Charlotte in 2002 to practice with The Heart Center of Charlotte and joined Mecklenburg Heart Specialists in 2006.

He is board certified in Interventional Cardiology, Cardiovascular Medicine, and Internal Medicine. He has expertise in Cardiac catheterization, Peripheral vascular intervention, Coronary intervention, Pacemaker implantation, Vein ablation and Non-invasive cardiac evaluation and follow-up. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, and a Fellow of the Society of Cardiac Angiography and Intervention. Dr. Qureshi is married and has 2 children. In his spare time Dr. Qureshi enjoys spending time with his family and competes in the sport of Squash.

Stephanie Baumann

PA-C

PA Baumann is a Wisconsin native and received her Physician Assistant degree from Concordia University-Wisconsin in 2016. During this time, she was able to experience a wide variety of medical settings, including a month in South Africa for an emergency medicine rotation and a program at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Michigan focused on advance trauma medicine. Furthermore, PA Baumann was consistently recognized as a leader by her peers, resulting in her election as a state-wide representative for Concordia University. PA Baumann graduated with honors and subsequently moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where she immediately became certified by the NCCPA in Physician Assistant Studies. She began her career in Bariatric Medicine, specializing in nutrition. Given the opportunity, she transitioned to Mecklenburg Heart Specialists in 2018, where she currently works as first assist with peripheral vascular interventions.

In addition, she sees patients in clinic and hold privileges at Novant Health and Atrium Health. She now holds additional memberships with both the North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants as well as the American Academy of Physician Assistants. In her spare time, PA Baumann frequents local performing arts shows and enjoys spending time hiking in the mountains with her two dogs, Finley and Morel.

PA Cecka, a Wisconsin native, has resided in North Carolina since 2013. She was recruited to play collegiate volleyball for Wingate University earning the university's Perseverance Award and recipient of the Porter Byrum Scholarship. She majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry, Psychology, and Spanish. PA Cecka then went on to receive her Physician Assistant degree from Gardner Webb University in 2021. During this time, PA Cecka gained a range of experience caring for pediatrics to geriatrics, surgical first assist, hospice management and advanced rehabilitation, and performed invasive and non-invasive procedures. Further, an additional scholastic rotation in inpatient and outpatient Internal Medicine that serviced as the platform for pursuing Cardiology. PA Cecka lives in Charlotte, North Carolina where she immediately became certified by the NCCPA in Physician Assistant Studies and is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

Here at Mecklenburg Heart Specialists PA Cecka works as first assist with peripheral vascular interventions, cardiac device implants, and vein ablations. In addition, she sees patients in clinic and holds privileges at Novant Health. In her spare time, PA Cecka plays in the Association of Volleyball Professionals, a premier USA volleyball league, and spends time with her Great Pyrenees dog, Jordy.

Megan Stephens

PA-C

PA Stephens is originally from Waxhaw, North Carolina and received her Physician Assistant degree from Wingate University. Prior to attending Wingate, she graduated magna cum laude from Wake Forest University where she studied Health and Exercise Science. Stephens currently lives in Charlotte, North Carolina and is certified by the NCCPA. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, running, and playing with her Aussie-doodle, Winston.
